Templars are the most overpowered (at50) because as they get high end armor (which comes with incredible defensive stats by default) they can socket more offensive gems...to the point where they can nearly one-combo squishy classes. On top of having the ability to be effectively invulnerable for 1min 30 seconds using 3 abilities and having something like 13k hp.
Overall the 1v1 balance is pretty decent. Every class has the ability to kill every other class in most reasonable scenarios. Assassins are probably the king of solo pvp... as they can attack out of stealth and can lock you down pretty effectively using cooldowns (you have a few brief moments to break out of their attacks if you're quick with a defensive cooldown/potion).
Sorcerers are also pretty deadly in 1v1 if they get the drop as they have pretty much the second highest burst damage on top of a ton of snares/roots/polymorphs.
Mainly the game will center around group pvp where depending on group setup, and players skill it can go from a WoW 5v5 esq stalemate to a complete slaughter. Healing counters damage enough that focused fired players are not unsaveable as long as their group has a good base of healers.
I played CN Aion (Thanks to Goetter) last night and ran through the Castle Seige Tutorial NPCs (When you first enter the Abyss there are NPCs that go over how Castle Seiges work, via cutscenes... p. cool). Basically to capture a castle you have to kill a special (read 15 stories tall) NPC in the heart of the castle. The Castle emits a forcefield that makes it so that enemy flying players cannot enter (or they take a shit ton of damage and probably die)... so they're forced to assault via the ground. The shield can be disabled once you're inside of the castle by killing a generator.
To get inside you have to attack the front gate.. which can be repaired by clicking an item inside the gate and 'channeling' a repair spell on it. As long as someone is doing this, it repairs the damage it takes at a very fast rate. Luckily the attackers can deploy seige weapons (which look like crazy Anime cannons) that do a ton of damage to the door, to successfully defend it will likely be required that defending players push out to destroy the seige engines.
Respawning in the Abyss usually puts you back at your faction's "base". Which is normally quite a long flight from the castle. To get around this players can deploy stones (I forget their name) that allow for people to temporarily bind to them... so when they die, they can simply respawn much closer to the fight. These can be destroyed and add a whole other dynamic to offense and defense (i.e. you can hurt the offense simply by destroying their respawn point and forcing them to take a long run back).
Finally, there are 'Artifacts' that surround the castle that are independently captureable... to capture them you have to defeat the NPCs that are guarding them (which are super strong guard NPCs). The controlling faction can activate the artifacts to either do some crazy damage (like 900 damage every 3 seconds for xxx seconds to all enemies in a radius (around the castle?)... or crazy good buffs like +damage/+accuracy/+crit for all members of the friendly faction. There were other artifacts, but I only looked at two. From some PvP Videos I've seen... the artifacts can pretty much single-handedly swing a fight in your favor. I believe the castles have an artifact built-in as well... so the defensive team will always have at least one.
